Easter Egg

Before you start you will need the following supplies.

You will need JASC's Paint Shop Pro.  Get a trial copy here.

1.  Open a new image 300X400 with raster background checked, I also like to use a white background so I can see better but that is totally up to you.

2.  Set your foreground color to null and the background to what ever color you want your egg to be.   I used #FF8080

3.Go to your preset shapes     and select the ellipse shape with anti-alias, and vector check.  Retain style unchecked.

Be sure to select the ellipse from the preset shapes & do not click directly on the ellipse tool   or the nodes will not show.

4. Draw an oval in the center of your canvas.starting at 100X 70 and ending at 240 X 300.

5.  Select the pen tool to begin editing your nodes.  Left click on the bottom node and pull the handle out to widen the bottom of the egg.  Then do a left click on the node.  Select node type, smooth.  Repeat with the top of the egg only draw the handle in to make the top of the egg narrower.  I also pulled the sides of the egg out slightly.  And also change the node types to smooth.  Your egg should look similar to mine.

6. After you get the egg the way you want it do a right click on the vector layer and select convert to raster layer.

7.  Go to selection float..  Effects. 3-d effects, cutout with the following settings.  Vertical & horizontal 0. Opacity 75, blur 75 and the color a darker shade of the fill color on your egg.  I used #980003.  A handy tip I learned on how to find darker & lighter shades of a certain color is to open your color palette and slide the lever marked L up or down. That way you will get a perfect match :-)

8. Keeping your egg selected, add a new raster layer.  Change your foreground color to white.  Select your paint brush tool with the settings shape round, size 20, hardness 26, step 25, opacity 100.  Draw a line down the center of the egg.  then go to adjust, blur, gaussian blur.  Settings radius 20.  Apply.

9.  Select none, hide the background layer,  merge visible.  That's it!  Now you can have fun by colorizing the egg.  Decorating it with tubes etc.  On my examples & added the flowers on a new layer & then lowered the opacity to 70

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial!
