Sweet & Sour Chicken Wings

3 lbs. chicken wings, cut in half and discard tips
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. ginger
1 egg slightly beaten
scant corn starch for coating
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. soy sauce
3/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. catsup
1/2 c. water

Place wings in large baking dish and sprinkle with garlic powder and ginger.  Place in refrigerator for about an hour.   Beat the egg lightly and pour over the chilled chicken.  Toss the chicken to cover evenly.  Place the corn starch in pie tin and bread each piece of chicken until coated.  Place chicken in hot skillet and brown for about 10 minutes.  Drain and place chicken on baking sheet.   Combine the last five ingredients in sauce pan and simmer 10-15 minutes.  Pour the sauce over the chicken.  Bake in 325 degree oven for about 20 minutes.  Turn and bake 20 minutes more.
