Divinity

3 c. sugar
1/2 c. white Karo syrup
1/8 tsp salt
2/3 c. water
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts

Boil, sugar, water, and syrup to a hard crack. In the meantime beat the egg whites and salt to soft peaks. Pour syrup slowly into the egg whites with a mixer at medium speed. Continue beating until the gloss disappears and the candy is ready to drop. Stir in vanilla and if desired 1 c. chopped walnuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper.
