Chihuahua Sweater
Size: This fits Peanut and he is a pretty large
Chi at 11 lbs. You can adjust it for a larger or
smaller dog by increasing or decreasing the stitches.
Materials: Approximately 2 oz. yarn in the main
color and 1 oz. yarn in the contrasting color. Hook
size H. Two buttons to fasten the belt.
Back: With main color chain 37.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd chain and in each ch across, ch
1 and turn. 34 DC.
Row 2: Sc across, ch 2, turn.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for a total of 24 rows.
End off.
Chest piece: With main color, ch 23.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across.
Ch 1 turn. 20 DC.
Row 2: Sc across, ch 2 turn.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 9 rows. End off.
Belt: When changing sizes be sure to include several
inches for overlapping.
Row 1: Ch 66, sc in 2nd sc from hook and in each
ch across. Ch 2 turn.
Row 2: Sc across, ch 1 turn.
Row 3: Dc across. Ch 1 turn.
Row 4: Sc across. Ch 1 turn.
Row 5: Sc across.
Make 7 Tr in the end dc sp of belt, and sl st to the
other side of the belt to form a buttonhole.
Attach 2 end corners of the back to the 2 end corners of
the chest piece with a tack stitch. Attach
the contrasting color and sc evenly around the neck
opening. Attach edging color to outside edge,
sc evenly around the chest piece and down side back,
stopping at the corner of the end. *Skip dc
row, make 5 dc in end of sc row, skip next dc row,
sc in next sc row, repeat from * across. Sc
along other side and end off.
Pin center of belt to back edge of chest piece and
stitch chest piece to the edge of the belt. To fit
you dog: Where the belt comes up over the
back of the dog, make a loop to hold the belt
in place, as follows Cut 18" piece of yarn
for each side where the belt is to go. Attach
to the edge of the back piece and ch enough to cross
width of belt.
Attach at the other side by tying. Sew 2 or
3 buttons on belt for proper fit. Button through
loop of tr crochets
